WELCOME TO NUNDA

Nunda River Lodge, situated in the Kavango east region of Namibia, is an experience seldom encountered in the Southern African continent with its homely relaxed atmosphere enhanced with a true African wildlife experience. Nunda, the local Thimbukushu name given to the fruit of the Jackalberry tree, is situated on the Okavango River in the homeland of the Hambukushu tribe. Nunda River Lodge is centrally situated as a destination in itself.

Spend at least two days or more exploring the region before travelling on to the Okavango Delta, Etosha Pans, Zambia or Victoria Falls. Excellent birding, magical wildlife encounters coupled with great fishing opportunities as well as diverse cultural experiences will only make you want to return.

Nunda River Lodge, situated in the Kavango east region of Namibia, is an experience seldom encountered in the Southern African continent with its homely relaxed atmosphere enhanced with a true African wildlife experience. The Kavango – Zambezi region (formerly call the Caprivi Strip) is a narrow strip of land in the far north eastern region of Namibia. Approximately 400 km long bordering Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana, the region is also incorporated into the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area. It falls within the tropical climate zone and receives the highest rainfall figures in Namibia, mainly between December and March.

Lovely place on the banks of the Okavango We camped 2 night at Nunda River Lodge. We receives a warm welcome. The staff is very friendly and well trained. We had several campsites at our disposal. We chooses de nr 6. It don't have river view but it is well shaded and situated in the lush full tropical garden. There is a nice ablution block and all lodge facilities can be used by the campers. We enjoyed the nice view, the beautiful garden, the friendly staff and the clean accommodations. Our stay was to short but we loved the place.

Lovely place to stay We returned to this river lodge again as it has a fantastic location, is competitively priced with good staff and good food. The chalets are right on the river and we saw hippos were opposite. Nice pool. Highly recommend if in this area.

This review is overdue. We have stayed in Nunda in May 2021. Had a booking for 2 nights and ended up staying a total of 6 nights. As others mention, the camping is superb, but we took advantage of the "special" they were running at the time and stayed in the water-front cottages. Nunda is an unbelievable place and the location is absolutely perfect for visiting both river sides of the Bwabwata National Park: Buffalo Core area and Mahango Core area. The two areas are very different from each other, and one can easily spend days in each (as we did). The lodge camp sites and bungalows are practically on the river front, gardens are amazing and one can enjoy the prolific birdlife in the lodge itself. Cameron (owner/host) is an amazing source of information, stories and champion of Namibia and tourism (not to speak about the fact that he doubled as mechanic and fixed our rented 4x4). Nunda is definitely a place to use as base for days or weeks. I am confident you will find yourself feeling at home from day one. The only reason we left after 6 nights was that we didn't succeed changing our prepaid reservations in Etosha - otherwise, we would have stayed longer.

Stunning Campsite Brilliant spot to camp. We were going to stay for 2 nights but ended staying 5! We stayed at No.6, just back from the Kunene River, because we wanted to camp on grass. The sites next to the river are on sand, better for rooftop campers. Electricity and a light at each site. Communal ablutions, spotlessly cleaned every day. Daily lit donkey, loads of lovely hot water. Sundowners to the sound of hippos every night. The birdlife is spectacular! The gardens are lush and beautifully looked after. The food in the restaurant is real home from home cooking. Fish and Chips for lunch on the beautiful thatched deck overlooking the river with a chilled bottle of white wine is a must do! Cameron and Eugenie are wonderfully helpful and Cameron is always available to give advice on which game parks and lodges to visit in the area. We will certainly visit again!

A Fabulous place to camp!! Ask for a riverside pitch! A scenic place to stay with friendly staff and owners. Great swimming pool to cool off in. The river side terrace is stunning - birds, otters, hippos and crocs. A wonderful place for a meal. A great jumping off point for Mahango Game Park. A real treat!

Excellent!!! High standard re. overall cleanliness, service, friendliness. Had a great camping experience with you. From being warmly greeted by Peter at the gate, being patiently helped by reception to the singing lady who sees to hot water in the donkey system and a sparkling bathroom.. Well done!! You have a beautifull setup and we will be back for more.
